Aibo Mind 3 Software Preview

Sony UK has an interesting article about Aibo Mind 3 software. There's also a mention of Aibo's new location memory that allows it to remember where it has been and where important items, such as it's charging station and toys, are located.

Another benefit of the location memory is that Aibo can quickly and accurately move from location to location. And I do mean quickly - if the Aibos I saw scuttling around the Sony offices in Brussels earlier this week are anything to go by.   

Roblog - The First Aibo Blog

In a previous post I mentioned finding what claims to be the first blog to be maintained by an Aibo robot. It has to be said that the blog is a bit repetitive, but I guess the same would be said if a real dog was blogging its world. Personally, I'd be inclined to set up some more interesting terrain and maybe a few challenges for Aibo to stop him going stir crazy. Or, wireless range permitting, let him outside for an explore.

The owner of Aibo Pedro has set up a mailback system where you can ask Pedro for an exclusive photo: send an email in plain text, not html, to [email protected] with the subject AIBO MAIL and the text PHOTOL. Go on, make his day!

Aibo - the first robot dog blog?

More about the capabilities of the new Aibo - apparently it can write it's own blog(!)

Various reports on the web say:

"AIBO thinks about its experiences, recording them in a daily diary complete with photos and comments about how it feels."

and

"Aibo can take pictures and add notes on its daily activities to its diary. (Yes but what if he's lying?) The diary can be shared by uploading entries directly to a blog site."

Of course, there's only one letter difference between a dog blog and a dog bog so I hope Aibo's writing skills are up to scratch..

It looks like this is the first Aibo robot powered blog. And apparently you can email Aibo to get an exclusive photo. I'll post it if/when it arrives.

Aibo Learns to Talk

I4U News reports that the new Sony AIBO ERS-7M3 Robot Dog now has a vocabulary of 1,000 words that enable Aibo to react to voice commands. That'll be useful when you're trying to toilet train the little fella - I hate it when they leave little piles of batteries on the carpet.

Adding spoken word commands is one of many new features in the latest software update - Aibo Mind 3. Other interesting additions are:

• Wireless Connectivity
• VPN support - so you can control your Aibo via the internet from anywhere in the world.
• RSS support - Aibo will read you the news headlines.
• Plays MP3 & Internet radio - Show Aibo a CD cover from your MP3 collection & it will play back tracks from that album.
